Friday, March 26th, 2010Announcing The Rube Goldberg Machine Ticket Giveaway Contest!
Thursday, March 25th, 2010
So, you’ve been sitting at home, watching our hot new Rube Goldberg video, digging on the tunes from Of the Blue Colour Of The Sky, and thinking to yourself just how fun it would be to see Ok Go play a live show. And as you sat there, you saw the tour dates get posted, and it seemed like maybe your dream could come true. You could buy tickets to one of those shows, and it would be you, and the band, in the same room! Quelle joie!
But life is complicated. Maybe the show you wanted to see sold out, or work has been slow and you didn’t have the cash, or your significant other decided it was far more important to invest in a health plan for the dog. And so here you are, left without tickets to that Ok Go show you wanted so badly to see. That’s where we come in.
Today we are announcing a contest to give away a pair of tickets to every upcoming show on our Spring tour, including festival passes to Sasquatch, Bamboozle, Bonnaroo and Hangout. Yes, you read that correctly: every applicant has the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to any show on the tour. Exciting, no?
So, what do you have to do to make this happen? Glad you asked. Click through for contest details:

Rube Goldberg Machine – Behind The Scenes!
Monday, March 22nd, 2010You’ve watched the video (multiple times), been wowed by our Rube Goldberg Machine, marveled at its crazy ingenious design, and wondered just how exactly we got the whole contraption to actually work.
Well, today is your lucky day: the band, in collaboration with the film crew and machine engineers, have put together a feature about the machine for you to enjoy. The interactive application includes photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes facts about every phase of the making of the video from start to finish. What’s more, we culled many of the details from fan requests and discussions when creating the application.
The result is an interactive floor plan that we think is as entertaining as it is informative, and we hope you’ll feel the same! Check it out by clicking below:
Onwards and Upwards
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010Big news.
OK Go has struck out on its own. The band has left the EMI family of corporations to form their own enterprise, a homemade upstart called Paracadute. In addition to being humanity’s second most fun word to say (“pamplemousse” was taken), Paracadute is really just a way for the boys to continue doing what they’ve always done. Which is whatever they want. Being OK Go just got a little bit easier.
So please join me in welcoming Paracadute into the world. As yet, there’s no building, no logo, no employee manual. Just the band, some paperwork, and a bunch of insane ideas. Plus two dogs in suits. Exciting stuff.
A word on Capitol/EMI: Neither our lawyers nor their lawyers have any hard feelings and, in fact, the split has been remarkably friendly. There are many wonderful people at the company who have worked very hard on our behalf, and we’ve become very close with them over the years. Even if the band hadn’t signed a non-disparagement clause as part of the deal, we would have nothing bad to say. All joking aside, we’re very thankful, and we wish them all the best.
So, pop a cork and blast Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky. Today is a big, exciting, incredible day, the latest lovely moment in a big, exciting, incredible week.
More news soon.
Jorge
PS… Oh, fine. More news now: If you can’t get to one of the thirty-plus shows on the upcoming tour, fear not: the boys will be on your TV. In the next month they’ll visit Carson Daly (4/16), David Letterman (4/28), Steven Colbert (4/29), and Jimmies Kimmel (4/1) and Fallon (5/4). They’ll also be at Bamboozle, Bonnaroo and Sasquatch. Some busy months ahead.
