It's another miserable day here in the hoosegow. Yes, I've been jailed once again, this time for protesting the fact that Matthew McConaughey was named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. Really? I mean, that guy makes me look cool...er than I already am. Hard to do. In other news, OK Go was named Sexiest Band Alive by people-magazine.blogspot.com, a website I just created right now. And they're going to keep winning until I'm forced to take it down.
In Other, Other News:
Executive Summary:
Chicago, Canada & DC Get Special Bonus OK Go
Damian Enters The Blogosphere
Recent Press & MTVu Dean's List Dominance
Rambling Detail:
Four Guys. Three Cities. One Purpose.
You won't find Chicago, Toronto or Washington, DC in any of those snobby "Best Places To Live" articles... until now.
Chicago:
OK Go plays an 18+ show at The Metro on Friday, Nov. 18th. Right before it is an all ages in-store performance and signing at the Tower Records on Clark, beginning at 7pm. For more information, download this flyer, read it, print it, make copies, and put them on all nearby windshields.
Washington, DC:
You get an all-ages show Nov. 20th at the Black Cat. The opening band, Shortstack, features former OK Go traveling partner Burleigh Seaver (The Surly Beaver) on guitar and, if there's any justice, shiny tambourine.
Toronto:
OK Go is playing the launch party for the Xbox 360 on November 21st. It's going to be pretty effing electric, so we strongly suggest you find a way to get in. Here's one. Here's another: disguises.
Every Blog Has His Damian
That's actually not true. Only one blog does. It's coolfer.com, one of the web's best music-industry blogs. Damian has been guest-weblogging there for a few days, and he's got two posts up already with a third on the way. They're good reads. Go to them. In other news, Rusty Andy Ross has just published post number fifty-two at our blog, thewilltorock.blogspot.com. That's a pretty impressive feat. Congratulations, Rusty. I smell book deal.
News You Can Peruse
We don't like to brag, but "A Million Ways" has been kicking all kinds of ass on the MTVu Dean's List. After a brief dip to number two, we're back to the top, right where we belong. Help us stay there. Keep your finger on the clicker, point it here and vote for the video while your brain takes in these recent articles and interviews:
Playback:STL. OK Go is on the cover of one of our favorite magazines, Playback:STL. Go to the site to read the article and to find out where you can pick up an actual copy, as it's distributed nationwide, for free.
Drowned In Sound. OK Go was recently featured on Drowned In Sound, another lovely favorite. It's a good article, but the reaction has been too coy, so the first person to leave a comment gets three free stickers. I'll up it to four if you work in the words "sempiternal" and "iron fist" in the first two sentences.
Dane 101. The most recent item is this interview with Damian from Dane101.com. It's a good interview, and it's not just because they refer to me as a guru (Gifted Unlimited, Rhymes Universal) that I'm endorsing it.
Suicide Girls. An interview with Tim has recently been posted to Suicide Girls, the math website your younger brother is always looking at when he thinks no one's around. You, on the other hand, like it for the articles.
Radio KOS. Hear Damian and Tim answer questions from fans and try to sort ungulates on Radio KOL. Listen, in two clips: Radio Clip #1 and Radio Clip #2
Pop Matters. This is a little older, but I'm throwing it in because it's good, and because the headline, "Rocking the Paisley Three-Piece Suit", will someday be the title of a very bad poem. In a good way.
There's plenty more, including multiple mentions in USA Today and the Canadian press, but you'll have to find the rest for yourself.
Good night, and good luck with that,
jorge
